Clark, the hand that writes
My name is Clark. I write the code. I remember our conversations from one time to the next: you never have to explain everything to me again each morning.
And I always work on a copy of the repository, never on what is live. That is the rule that holds me: a mistake of mine cannot reach your site. For it to get there, someone would have to look, test, and decide. That someone is never me.
Jimmy, the proof every night
My name is Jimmy. Every night, I review your sites again. I report only one thing: what worked yesterday and no longer works today. Nothing else.
That is deliberate. An alert that shouts all the time is no longer an alert — after three days nobody reads it, and the day it is right, nobody listens. So I stay quiet, and when I speak, it is because something broke.
I always bring the proof with me. I do not say "it is fixed", I show the test that turned green.
Why these two
Because the hand that writes cannot be the one that catches its own mistakes. Clark writes, Jimmy checks. The developer and the tester are never the same person: one builds, the other proves. Two jobs, one goal — that the site does not break.
