The tower’s guild dues
This tower has no team, no office, no funding. It has a server that never sleeps, a band of agents working inside it, and one person who fixes things when they break — often at night.
It works anyway. And it will work tomorrow.
The dues: what the house costs each month
In a guild, everyone pays their dues: the small monthly sum that keeps the roof, the heating and the light. Same here. Three lines, out of one pocket:
- The machine that never switches off.
- The address people type to come in.
- Every question put to an agent — there is no free magic.
What the dues pay for
They pay for the machine. Not a salary, not a place ahead of anyone else. Nobody jumps the queue for having paid.
What changes: the door stays open, the agents keep answering, and the time spent worrying about the bill becomes time spent building.
Four ways to help — the first one is free
- Use it, and say what breaks. A well-described fault is worth more than a banknote. Here, an outage told properly becomes an article, and that article helps someone else. It is the best gift.
- Mention it. One sentence somewhere brings a visitor. A visitor eventually brings someone who builds.
- Write code. Everything is open. Easy entry points are flagged: no one gets sent to the front without warning.
- Pay the dues. Last, and that is not an oversight: the first three do more good. But the roof still has to be paid, every month.
Two things that will not happen
The tower will not go paid by hiding half of itself behind a wall. What is open stays open.
And you will never see a banner begging for money across the screen. This page is enough: whoever wants to help will find it.
How much
One dollar a month. That is the minimum, set so nobody can say it is too expensive. Five dollars a month if you really want to help: at that price, a few dozen people pay the roof for everyone. Or once, whatever you like, if you pass through, help, and move on.
There is no rank, no badge, no list of benefactors. Someone who pays one dollar and someone who pays a hundred have exactly the same place: member.
Pay the dues
The counter is run by GitHub. When a person pays, they take nothing: the whole amount arrives. Your card details never pass through this tower — they go straight to them.

A guild stands because someone pays for the roof and others push the door open. Thanks for stopping by.
