Yes, the Control Tower can serve as a tool for an IT technician to run an infrastructure. Provided we promise exactly what it already does. It monitors, it measures, it alerts, it acts, and it keeps a trail of every step. What we do not promise yet, we say too. Here is the promise, in plain words, and how it is verified.
What an IT technician needs to do
Running an infrastructure is always the same small set of gestures:
- See the state — which services run, what load, what disk, what memory;
- Be warned — when something goes down or slows, without having to watch all the time;
- Act — restart a service, apply a fix, put things back in place;
- Remember — know who did what, when, and be able to replay an intervention.
Nothing magical. It is exactly on these four gestures that the tower is built. Because it does them on itself, day and night, for weeks.
What we can promise — and what shows it
The tower monitors its own services. Every site answers, every container runs, every metric is collected. An automatic watch checks continuously and raises an alert when something is wrong. A complete monitoring stack — load, memory, disk, network measurements, live dashboards — runs on a second machine with the profession's reference tools: Prometheus to collect metrics and Grafana to display them. It is the same stack operations teams use. We do not reinvent measurement, we embed it.
And the tower does not just watch. A team of agents performs interventions: diagnosing an incident, reading a log, preparing a fix. Every intervention goes through a check before it runs. Every step is recorded with its date and time. We do not tell what we did. We can show it.
What we do not promise yet
An honest promise has limits. We state them before you find them. Today, the tower runs the infrastructure it lives on. It is ready to monitor others. But we do not promise a tool that would discover any fleet by itself. Nor a tool that connects without configuration to every machine in a company. Connecting a new machine is done. But you must declare it, add it to monitoring, and verify the alert fires. That is setup work, not magic.
Above all: the tower assists the technician, it does not replace them. The decisions that matter stay with people. That is a rule, not a sales promise. The tower was built that way, and it will stay that way.
